Name: Basic Sweater 2008
Pattern: Fitted Crew Neck by Amanda Griffiths from 1000 Sweaters book
Made for: Me
Yarn: Louisa Harding Yarns Grace Silk & Wool – 11 balls/550g – purchased at Norfolk Yarn, Norwich, Norfolk
Needles: 3.75mm & 4.00mm
This is my favourite finished object and a jumper I reach for time and time again in the colder months. The yarn is quite thick – between a double-knit and an aran – and it bobbles with wear, but that just doesn’t matter. The colour and the feel are divine.
Well, this is a modular pattern so changes are obligatory. I worked the fitted body but with the v-neck and long fitted sleeves. I wanted to keep the neckline quite low, so instead of knitting a border I just edged it with a row of crochet to neaten it. I like how that works.

I just added some photos taken today. I’ve put on weight over the summer, and this is getting a bit too snug. The sooner my office moves and I get back to 8 miles a day on my bike the better!
